Disability and Entrepreneurship: Models of Success (D.E.M.O.S.)

The purpose of the Disability and Entrepreneurship: Models of Success (D.E.M.O.S.) initiative to foster new entrepreneurial endeavors that incorporate successful business models, and that also create work environments, workforces, products, and services that are fully inclusive and available to people of all abilities; with an emphasis on inclusion of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The D.E.M.O.S. initiative supports the development of new entrepreneurial endeavors that fully incorporate principles of Universal Design in students' business models. Successful applications are those that (a) offer a viable, competitive business model, and (b) utilize Universal Design principals to develop a workforce, work environment, product, service, or system that is fully inclusive and universally accessible; particularly for workers and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The D.E.M.O.S. elevator pitch contest acts as the finale for all ENTR 200 students. The finalist(s) are chosen from this group of students. Judges are selected for the panel from the outside business community. The winner receives a monetary award.
