Application Materials

All materials must be uploaded to the candidate's online application. No paper or incomplete applications will be accepted. All application materials must be included at the time of online submission.

  • COVER LETTER (Most important aspect of the HTMT application)
    • Applicant must provide industry-relevant cover letter(s) with online application that conveys how and why applicant meets the scholarship requirements.
    • Create personalized cover letter(s) addressing each awarding organization.
    • DO NOT write 1 generic cover letter and use it for multiple scholarship opportunities.
    • Each letter should not exceed 500 words.
  • RESUME
    • Prepare one-page resume (PDF only).
    • Be sure to highlight professional experience, honors, and education that align with each scholarship requirement.
  • TERM BY TERM HISTORY
    • Download Term by Term History from Degreeworks (PDF only, note: the term by term history is different from a degree audit).
  • CAREER GOALS
    • Prepare 500-word statement of Academic and/or Career Goals and why you deserve the scholarship(s). Be sure to address any specified scholarship eligibility requirements related to your career aspirations (PDF only).

Award Reception

Recipients are required to attend School of Business and HTMT award ceremonies during spring semester. Additionally, scholarship sponsors may require attendance at their respective reception.

Thank You Note

All scholarship recipients must complete a thank you note to the sponsoring organization.

Lowcountry Hospitality Association Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled full time (12 credit hours) as an HTMT major, minor or concentration
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Demonstrate restaurant/industry-relevant involvement or intent
  • Demonstrate intent to seek employment in the Greater Charleston Area upon graduation
  • Must provide industry-relevant cover letter with online application
  • Preference given to candidates who demonstrate financial need (However, committee can award the scholarship to a candidate who does not demonstrate need)
  • If selected, mandatory attendance at sponsor ceremony is required

Charleston Wine+Food Festival
 
Senior Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled full time (12 credit hours) as an HTMT major, minor or concentration
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Demonstrate restaurant/industry-relevant involvement or intent
  • Must provide industry-relevant cover letter with online applcation
  • Six finalists will be selected by the CofC scholarship committee, with the final ordering determined by W&F
  • If selected, attendance at the Charleston Wine+Food Festival Scholarship Awards is required

Charleston Wine+Food Festival
Excellence Scholarship

  • Must be an incoming freshman
  • HTMT major, minor, or concentration must be declared by the end of the 1st semester of freshman year
  • Demonstrate academic merit with minimum SAT score of 1100 or minimum ACT score of 24
  • Demonstrate restaurant/industry-relevant involvement or intent
  • Must provide industry-relevant cover letter with online application
  • Renewable up to three years, if terms are met
  • Recipients are encouraged to pursue internships with the festival for at least 1 semester
  • If selected, attendance at the Charleston Wine+Food Festival Scholarship Awards is required

Kiawah Island Golf Resort
 Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled full time (12 credit hours) as an HTMT major, minor or concentration
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Demonstrate resort/industry-related involvement or intent 
  • Must provide industry-relevant cover letter with online application
  • Preference given to candidates who demonstrate financial need (However, committee can award the scholarship to a candidate who does not demonstrate need)

Patrick E. Ringwald Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled full time (12 credit hours) as an HTMT major, minor or concentration
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Demonstrate restaurant/industry-relevant involvement or intent
  • Must provide industry-relevant cover letter with online application
  • Preference given to candidates who demonstrate financial need (However, committee can award the scholarship to a candidate who does not demonstrate need)

Wild Dunes Resort Hospitality Management Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled full time (12 credit hours) as an HTMT major, minor or concentration
  • Minimum GPA 2.5
  • Demonstrate resort/industry-relevant involvement or intent
