***Coming soon!  Online Declaration of Intent/Major form and online scheduling for advising sessions***

Academic advising is an essential part of creating a positive experience for students enrolled in the School of Business at the College of Charleston. Our business students are encouraged to actively take part in advising throughout their college career. When students initially make a declaration of intent or major in the school, they must attend a mandatory advising session to ensure that they receive the necessary guidance to successfully earn their desired degree. An advising hold will be placed on a student's account the semester a declaration of intent/major is made. Students will not be allowed to register for classes until they've attended a mandatory advising session and the hold has been removed.

Students who intend to major within the School of Business are required to attend a group advising session hosted by the Student Success Center. The group advising session is designed to make sure students understand the admission requirements for the school, and time will be spent individually with students to get them started on the right path to their degree.

Students making a declaration of major within the School of Business are required to schedule an advising session with their assigned faculty advisor.  Students will be notified of their assigned faculty advisor via e-mail, and can also find their advisor's name on CougarTrail. Students need to contact their faculty advisor directly to set up an appointment.

Although students are only required to attend a one-time, mandatory advising session, we are available every semester to assist students and answer questions about academic planning and degree requirements. Students are also encouraged to take advantage of the various resources available through CougarTrail, the school's website and at the Student Success Center. While we are here to keep you on track, students are ultimately responsible for managing their own academic success.

Admission Standards

The School of Business has admission standards to attract and retain students with the ability and commitment necessary for success in business and economics. Students must have 30 earned credit hours before applying for admission to the school.*
