South Carolina Supply Chain Summit

The South Carolina Supply Chain Summit draws industry experts and academic leaders together to share and discuss opportunities to drive our state’s capabilities, talent resources, and research in supply chain business and engineering management.  Our collective, ongoing efforts will increase our state’s economic vitality and strengthen our future.

More than 100 registered attendees from industry and higher education filled the School of Business Wells Fargo auditorium for the 2014 Summit. Norfolk Southern vice president of business development, Rob Martinez, delivered the keynote presentation.

About the 2014 Summit

The themes for the 2014 Summit were Managing Supply Chain Risk and Disruption, Opportunities in Supply Chain Education, and Deepening the Charleston Harbor.  Please see the day's agenda

Industry leaders related case studies that their companies and organizations have faced in reducing risk and mitigating disruption in global sourcing and transportation of goods.

Faculty and graduates from Clemson University, the University of South Carolina, and the College of Charleston shared important lessons learned in and out of the classroom on supply chain, and opportunities to meet job market needs. 

Jim Newsome, president and CEO of the South Carolina State Ports Authority, shared the plans and timeline for deepening the Charleston Harbor.  David Clayton, director of research for the SC Department of Commerce provided updates on the Department's plans to make our state more competitive in supply chain.
