Dr. Pan and Dr. Smith Won Top Article Award

Two professors in the department of Hospitality and Tourism Management in the School of Business are named the recipients of the Journal of Travel Research – 2009 Best Article Award.

C of C business professors, Dr. Bing Pan and Dr. Wayne Smith, co-authored the paper with Dr. Robert Li from USC and Dr. Lixuan Zhang from Augusta State University (previously at the College of Charleston).  The title of the paper is "The Effect of Online Information Search on Image Development:  Insights from a Mixed Methods Study."

"Dr. Pan and Dr. Smith are among the best researchers in the School of Business.  Their work has helped to establish a well-recognized body of research and a hospitality and tourism management program that is gaining global recognition."

All three researchers received the Charles R. Goeldner Article of Excellence award, given by the Travel and Tourism Research Association at the annual conference to held in San Antonio, TX, June 20 – 23. See link for the complete published paper.
