Michael Cahill is a private investor, attorney and business consultant who has worked in the investment management business for 23 years. Currently, Mr. Cahill is an active Angel investor and a Board member of the Pasadena Angels. Throughout much of his career, Mr. Cahill served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Trust Company of the West. TCW is the parent of a group of investment management companies involved in traditional and alternative fixed income and equity investments, both in the U.S. and internationally. Mr. Cahill served in a dual role, participating in the executive management of TCW and overseeing the Legal Department. TCW managed about $135 billion of client assets.

Mr. Cahill sits on the board of the KKR Income Opportunities Fund (KIO), a closed-end investment fund. He also sits on the Boards of various non-profit organizations, including Southwestern Law School. He holds and has held Board positions on various civic, community and professional organizations and has been a speaker at several conferences on topics including venture capital, international joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and investment management. Prior to joining TCW, Mr. Cahill was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Act III Communications, a media and entertainment company involved in television broadcasting, movie theaters, trade publishing and film and television production. It was a start-up financed by its principal owner, Norman Lear, and third party venture, private equity, mezzanine and senior investors.

Mr. Cahill joined Act III after practicing private corporate, securities and M&A law with O'Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles. He represented large public companies in insurance, aerospace, consumer products, entertainment, banking and finance, as well as private and start-up companies. He started his career in law in San Diego with Shenas, Robbins, Shenas & Shaw, where he did both transactional work and litigation in California and Federal courts, including the US Supreme Court.Mr. Cahill holds an LL.M. from Harvard University, a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto and a BA from Bishops University, Quebec.

After enjoying a successful career as a business builder, owner and executive ($800m in realized value for the companies he started, ran and or worked with as an executive) he has spent the past 8 years purposed to help any private or public ecosystem embrace the business, investment, humanitarian and environmental thesis of "Making A Profit While Making A Difference". He is the visionary behind, Founder and co-designer of the world’s first full service, 100% transparent and accountable, fully sustainable financial institution purposed to transform global finance; a platform to provide instantaneous benefits for global Millennial's purposed to effect the scale of positive change required to ensure a sustainable future for People, Planet and Profit and a trusted advisor to recognizable US Families and the impact initiatives they develop and manage. Stuart is a frequent guest lecturer on social and environmental entrepreneurship at The College of Charleston and is a frequent global speaker on how to generate the futures highest and most sustainable profits by embracing People and Planet. Stuart has presented his work to The Elders and at The United Nations. 

In 1993, Stuart co-created the business, investment, humanitarian and environmental thesis of Making A Profit While Making A Difference. Using his own blueprint for a Whole Systems Approach that goes way beyond sustainability, his team was the first to design and run a project that engaged an entire country to build its emerging economy on the Principles of People, Planet, Profit. In addition to governments, Stuart and his team design similar programs for private ecosystems such as Corporations, Professionals Service Firms, Private Family Offices, Endowments, Foundations and Wealth, Asset and Investment Managers.

In 1993 Stuart co-founded and became President & CEO of The Strategic Research Institute (SRI) which he built into one of the world's leading business-to-business conference companies which he sold in 2006 to American Lawyer Media (ALM), a Wasserstein portfolio company. After the sale he joined the 5-person Executive Committee of ALM that was purposed with integrating numerous portfolio companies in order to sell the business.  This was successfully achieved in August 2007. Prior to the Strategic Research Institute Stuart worked in various positions at the London based corporate finance firm of Berwin LaRoche Group, PLC where as a partner in the firm he helped guide the company through its sale to Dominion International.

For twenty-two years, Tommy Baker inspired student entrepreneurs. After Mr. Baker's retirement from the classroom, Glenn Starkman was appointed to be the prestigious Tommy Baker Entrepreneur in Residence.. Mr. Starkman brings a wealth of financial and entrepreneurial expertise to the class. Glenn Starkman is the COO and co-founder of Soteria Security, a security consulting and data analytics company. Soteria is a Disabled Veteran owned Cyber Security firm headed by experienced former members of the NSA, CIA, DoD., as well as private sector security firms. With backgrounds rooted in Incident Response (IR), COMPUTER Network Exploitation & Attack, Large scale data analytics, and System Incident and Event Management (SIEM), Soteria’s staff are poised to lead the way in Security Threat mitigation, remediation, and beyond. No matter the sector of the Economy, Soteria has the expertise needed to handle today’s security concerns. Mr. Starkman is a dynamic business building executive and entrepreneurial change agent with a talent for communicating a vision and developing steps to make that vision a reality. He is an expert at motivating and empowering people and teams to achieve at world-class levels. Mr. Starkman’s prior experiences included being a Managing Director at UBS and a VO of International Sales at Goldman Sachs.




Wayne Mickiewicz
Entrepreneur in Residence

Wayne Mickiewicz is a retired business executive whose career spanned thirty-seven years in Information Technology including roles as President, CEO, COO or CIO of various service companies. These companies included the following:  Goldman Sachs, ADP, Prudential Insurance, Bell & Howell, Imagelock, United Healthcare and Accenture.   He possesses significant experience in Financial Services, Insurance, Manufacturing and Communications industries.  His interest in education led him to teaching COBOL programming at the NYU School of Continuing Education for five years and guest lecturing in Pace University’s Information Technology undergraduate degree program.  He currently assists in teaching in Entrepreneurship classes at The College of Charleston where he serves as an Entrepreneur in Residence.  Previously, Mr. Mickiewicz also assisted in teaching Entrepreneurship at The Citadel.  He has served as a mentor to other leaders in the various companies in which he has worked.  He is most proud of his ability to build high-performing teams teaching other business leaders how to exceed their expectations while creating their own career paths.  Mr. Mickiewicz holds a BA from the State University of NY at Oneonta, NY.  He lives on Kiawah Island, SC with his wife of forty-two years, Anna.
