Mark PylesDr. Mark Pyles

Pyles is an Associate Professor of Finance at the College of Charleston, where his primary teaching roles include corporate finance, investments, and financial modeling in both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  He also serves as the Director of the School of Business Investment Program.  During his time at the College, Pyles has published over 35 articles in peer-reviewed journals, including the Financial Review, Journal of Financial Services Research, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Journal of Investing, and Journal of Behavioral Finance. In addition, he is the author of a textbook titled Applied Corporate Finance: Questions, Problems, and Making Decisions in the Real World.

Pyles obtained a M.S. in Economics and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Kentucky, completing the latter in 2005. He has been a roster faculty member at the College of Charleston since Fall 2005.

Dr. Daniel Huerta-Sanchez currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Finance at the College of Charleston’s School of Business and as the Assistant Director of the School of Business Investment Program. He completed his Ph.D. in Business Administration with a Finance emphasis at the University of Texas-Pan American in 2013 and holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Universidad Dr. Rafael Belloso Chacin (Venezuela). Huerta-Sanchez teaches corporate finance at the graduate and undergraduate levels focusing on financial planning models, corporate valuation, and capital budgeting.

 His current research agenda includes topics in behavioral finance, style investing, and real estate investment trusts. His research has been published in the Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Journal of Economics and Finance, Journal of Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management, among others. His work has been presented at international conferences including the annual meetings of the Financial Management Association, Academy of Behavioral Finance and Economics, Academy of Financial Services, Academy of Economics and Finance, and Southwestern Finance Association.
