kbKerem Bolukbasi
Operations Executive, TPG Capital

Kerem Bolukbasi is an operations executive for TPG Capital, where he provides executive leadership and operational support to the firm’s portfolio companies. Bolukbasi works closely with senior executives to build and execute multi-year value creation strategies; drive carve-out, re-structuring and turn-around initiatives; determine capital and resource allocation; develop finance processes; coach CFOs on improving organizational and financial discipline and accountability and lead due diligence projects for both TPG and portfolio company transactions.

Prior to joining TPG in 2014, Bolukbasi was the CFO of the General Electric Company’s (GE) Distributed Power Engines division in Munich, Germany. Bolukbasi’s career with GE spanned 13 years, where he held a diverse set of finance and risk management roles across industrial and financial services businesses. He also completed GE’s Financial Management Program and became a member of their esteemed Corporate Audit Staff.

He obtained his MBA from the University of North Carolina and received a bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston in international business. Bolukbasi currently serves as a reserve officer in the South Carolina State Guard as part of a Search and Rescue unit. 

dhDavid Haythe
Senior Advisor, Morgan Stanley

David Haythe is a senior advisor at Morgan Stanley. Prior to this, he was head of Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management EMEA.

Haythe joined Morgan Stanley in 1975 as part of the Institutional Equity Division and transferred to the firm’s London office upon its inception. He was elected vice president in 1980, principal two years later and in 1986 was elected managing director.

Haythe holds a master’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

President and Founder, East Bay Financial Services, LLC 

Mario Nardone is the president and founder of East Bay Financial Services, where he provides investment management and consulting services to financial planners, nonprofits and individuals around the world.

Nardone began his career in finance at The Vanguard Group, where he worked for a decade as a member of the company’s fiduciary services and ETF product management units, consulting institutions and financial advisors on investment policy, portfolio construction, Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) and trading strategies.

A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder member since 2003, Nardone is the former president of the CFA Society of South Carolina and is a member of the CFA Institute and the Financial Planning Association. An expert in the industry, Nardone’s approach to investing has been featured in Investment News, NAPFA Advisor Magazine, Charleston Regional Business Journal, The Post & Courier and The Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal. 

dsDean T. Smith
Founder and Senior Advisor, Stonehenge Financial  

Dean Smith has been active in the structured finance markets for more than 25 years and is known throughout the industry as one of the pioneers of the non-prime and alternative mortgage.

He began his financial career at FSA, a monoline insurance company, where he designed credit enhancement technology for private label Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS). He then went to work at a series of Wall Street investment banks, running securitization programs and trading new issue and secondary MBS.

In 1996, Smith launched Stonehenge Financial Partners, a financial advisory firm that manages residential and commercial MBS portfolios for institutional clients. Stonehenge currently advises a large private equity fund on all of its mortgage-related investments and oversees several of their portfolio companies.

Smith received a bachelor’s degree in economics from University of California San Diego as well as an MA and MPhil in economics from Columbia University.

Vice President and Client Advisor, SunTrust Private Wealth Management 

Paul Shorter is the vice president of SunTrust Private Wealth Management. With more than 14 years of comprehensive wealth management experience, Shorter works with clients to provide comprehensive and highly customized financial advice and solutions including investment management, retirement planning, depository, lending and trust/estate planning strategies.

A native of Chesterfield, Virginia, Shorter is a graduate of the College of Charleston School of Business, where he received a degree in business administration with a double minor in finance and economics.

He is an active member and supporter of the College of Charleston Alumni Association as well as the College of Charleston Cougar Club.
